Fall and Soup

Well, fall weather is here. The temperatures have dropped, and the air conditioner hasn't kicked on in at least two weeks. (Which probably means a lower electric bill this month. YAY!) I've pulled out my fall jackets, and I'm almost ready to pack my summer things away and bring out the sleeves and sweaters.

I've also been hungry for soup for the past few days. I pulled out the crock pot and have been concocting all sorts of yummy things (though not necessarily soups). I made roast a few days ago, and I tried out a new chicken and dumplings recipe today. Most of the soups that I've had, however, have either been from restaurants or out of cans. I did have the last of the Irish stew that I had put in the freezer a few months ago; it was still quite yummy. I bought some stew meat at the grocery store a few days ago, so I may have to try out a new stew recipe sometime in the relatively near future....

I've brought out the sleaves already but not the sweaters.
Hope that you have a great week.

Made green chile stew and 15 bean soup last week. Am going to get out the recipe for vegetarian chili and do that this weekend. I make big batches and freeze in small containers to take for lunch during the week. Healthier, tastier and definitely cheaper than hospital food!
What all is in your Irish stew? I might want the recipe.

We had chili tonight YUM! I think I'll take stuff to home-home and make Mom some Green Bean & Dumpling soup for her birthday.

I cheated on the Irish stew recipe. I think I got it off of www.recipes.com. I know it called for a bottle of Guiness....
